Do you generate renewable electricity?

Any electricity that is generated cannot currently be easily stored so it is exported back to the grid. ClickEnergy will pay you for the amount you export through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) allow you to sell whatever electricity you generate from renewable generation. At ClickEnergy we offer various payment options on your PPA.

FAQs on Generation

What do I need to do to sign up?

The first thing to do is contact our generation team on 0800 1 070732. We need to know what sort of renewable generation you have, its maximum output and whether you have a new connection or want to switch to us for a better deal. After that we will take care of everything else.

What is my termination notice?

If you are on an existing PPA your termination period is determined by your provider. Termination notices can range from 30 to 90 days before the PPA is due to end. And some notices apply after the PPA ends. But be careful! On some PPA’s you may need to terminate before the end date or you could be rolled over into another year! But not at Click Energy, we are open and transparent and do not have any hidden terms! 

How do I get paid for my exported energy?

Your Power Purchase Agreement will specify your tariff type (fixed or variable), your tariff rate, contract period, your details and our standard terms and conditions. All payments are paid by direct debit.

How often do I get paid?

Payment on renewable generation over 50kw is received monthly into your account.

What are Renewable Energy Certificates and how do I get accredited?

Renewable certificates, namely NIROCs and LECs are typical components of most, if not all PPAs. The Northern Ireland Renewable Obligation Certificates (NIROCs) scheme closed to new generating capacity on 31 March 2017. Applications pending accreditation prior to this date may still be valid. We can direct you to our partners for further information around anything ROC-related.
